By the looks of it its a AOD tranny

Is that a big old long piece of welding wire hanging off that "test" pipe in picture 2?

Yeah looks like it, this thing was a real hack job by the previous owner. This is the first auto I've had hence the newbie question. Its going in the trash and I'm going T5.
