I started last weekend to replace the flywheel on my 86 150. Dropped the big C6 with no problem, but couldnt get that beast back in to save my life.
Pops shows up with this tranny jack that he got from Harbor Freight for $50. You know that thing worked pretty good. It has a strap that connects the tranny tightly to the jack and some wingnuts in front so that you can tilt it up and down.

Not a bad tool for someone without spending big money. It seemed to help a bunch putting this thing back togther. This was the first time I had used anything other than a floor jack and a buddy.

ive never used one, but it's one of those things where if you need one, you need it.

im a bit stupid - ive only seen them on shows, where guys are using a lift. is the one you used made for ground crawlers like me - or do you have a lift?

i think ive seen some sort of add-on type trans jack adapter also (made a floor jack look kinda like a motorcycle/atv lift).

anyhow, glad it worked for ya!

It is for the driveway crawlers like us.
There are lift models available at the same place.
It is a simple scissors jack that turns with a 1/2 wratchet. You may have to put the tranny under the car then put it on the jack. It depends on how high you go up witht the car before you start. I like to have enough room to at least roll over without getting stuck.

ok, your description hit it - i know what you are talkin about. HF is good for stuff like that, which you dont use often, but when you need it, you need it (and your dad did not spend a whole paycheck on it. ).

i have a chest circ in the 60's (inches) - i dont fit under stuff even when it is on a small lift. i hate it when i cant roll over - i start to freak out.
