What transmission mount are you guys running? Put a factory replacement in mine about 3 years ago and I think it broke the other day. I saw the urethane ones and figured they would hold up better, but would like to get some opinions.

The poly mounts are stiffer and will transfer more vibration into the car. But they also keep the tranny from moving as much under torque so you get power to the wheels a bit faster. Your stock tranny mount shouldn't have broken so quickly - you must have a heck of a lot of vibration going on.

Ya it vibrates pretty good now. I'm not going to sit here and lie about babying my car 24/7 haha. I haven't had time to put it up on jacks yet to see if that's really the problem, I'm just assuming.

I just switched from a poly to a stock mount last weekend. You can definitely feel more vibration with the poly mount. My car is a cruiser, so I chose comfort over performance.

(BTW if you want my energy suspenion poly mount I'll sell it cheap)

What does it feel like when it breaks?

I just developed a WICKED clunk last night and need to put it up on ramps tonight...

Like I said I haven't taken the time to check for sure yet. I can feel something bang on the floor pan when I shift or punch the gas. Accelerating hard in first I can hear the driveshaft rubbing from the tranny torquing over to the side (all a guess at this point). I'd bet money on the mount being gone at this point. I'm ruling at motor mounts because the engine doesn't vibrate anymore than before.

The tranny mount in my opinion is more for vertical alignment. I say your motor mounts are shot allowing too much torsional rotation, that is what is busting your trans mount. I have a 347 on DR and 5-speed and drive the Stang like a 17 year old and have no issues there. Something else is the cause is my guess.
