little help please..my tranny makes this extremely annoying ticking noise then my clutch is out :notnice: ..when i push the clutch back in half an inch the ticking goes away..im affraid it might be either the input shaft in the tranny or the bloody throwout bearing..its a brand new rebuilt so im a little upset  ..thanx for the help

Hold on a minute damnit. Don't yank that trans out, all you have is a bad clutch adjustment.

the t/0 bearing is designed to rest against the pressure plate with constant pressure, aka preload. your throw out bearing is making noises because your clutch adjustment is too loose. It needs to be tightened up a little to push the t/o bearing against the pressure plate. That's why it's making the noise, it's scraping against the pp. Other symptoms are difficulty pushing into gear, clutch grabbing RIGHT off the floor, and excessive grind in reverse.

just tighten some more slack out of your cable. If you don't know how to do this, read my article

it "could' be a bad bearing retainer of course, but it's not nearly as likely. Additionally, while not always the case, I would expect your trans rebuilder, or installer to see a bad/grooved bearing retainer IF that was the case.

let me know how it goes.

Congrats on the job!! bring the mods on right :)

last week for the whole week I was at a different job location, with no internet access. I just about freaked. I can't really pleasure surf at night, as I've got a wife and a 6 month old that demand my attention.

I'm concentrating hardcore on this mustang parts business i've been working on, and have been busy as hell stripping and selling parts from my current wrecked parts car, and hitting the yards, then the net to sell stuff. what a pain. On the flip side, on some boards, i'm getting so many pms for request for parts, I don't have any time to surf for fun.

My personal projects have become overwhelming. My brother and I finally got hardcore into the strip/racing thing, just in time for him to blow his engine up in his notch. now more time has been diverted building this super cool explorer 5.0 engine for his notch. It's got the gt40 heads, gt40 explorer intake, we put twisted wedge springs on it, 1.7 rr's, and a mustang cam, and it's all gotta go in soon.

After months and months of work on my vert, I finally decided it's not what I want to do, so I'm about to completely abandon it and sell it after owning for 8 years. I'm looking at picking up a very original 5.0 5 speed 84 notch which would get a late model efi transplant, or a 92 ssp x highway patrol notch and building that. (I'm leaning toward the 84, I like four eyes, and it's not as beat on)

anyhow, I'll always be around, take care! Jeremy

nice, sounds like youve got your handsfull with the business. im still contemplating switching to an 86 front end. a mustang shop back home has a brand new 86 urethane front end for like $399 or somethin like that and the hood is like $399 but i can make sure the one i get is perfect. ill let you know how it goes

That sounds a little pricey

they sell the 86 lx bumper (same but no fog lights) for $169 brand new but reman from the original mold. For that price, it better be a genuine 86gt bumper cover, and brand new too, as you can get them used/perfect for under 300 for the gt style (they don't reman the gt one yet (can't find the original ford mold) so it's either an nos 86gt bumper cover, or you're WAY overpaying for an lx bumper cover.

Don't pay that much for the hood either, they are a dime a dozen. Hell, I've got a hood and two bumper covers for sale right now. I can get you a perfect undinged 86 hood for less than $150 to your door including shipping. You'll also need the mouldings etc.

switching to an 86 front end would be badass, but be smart how/where you buy the parts.

yeah i figured that front bumper was pretty expensive...but the hood is a fiberglass 3" cowl. its got metal reinforced hood latch piece and hinge spots. but ill probably just get a pin on cowl for my hood...be it an 86 hood or a hood for my car.

edit: where did you get your pr03i control arms? and also i just checked out your site for the first time in a long time and does that blue 85-86 front end come with the lights too? youre making me get crazy thoughts man
