The car has a 4r70w automatic transmission in it which is an awesome setup that can handle quite a bit of abuse. How many miles are on the car?

Something worth checking out under the hood is the upper intake manifold. See if on the front where the radiator hose connects to is all plastic or aluminum as this part is a very common part to fail. The aluminum crossovers will give you the best result as far as staying on the road goes.

Inspect the condition of the transmission fluid. Look for burn brown fluid.

The 96 MY 4R70W is a good transmission however, the 96 MY is prone to torque converter "shudder" under light load. The problem can sometimes be fixed by converting from Mecron IV to Mecron V. Note, the entire volume of fluid has to be changed for this fix to be effective.

When driving the car, have one run constant easy throttle application. Pay attention to the 3-4 shift and the TC lock up shortly afterwards. If the shudder is present, it will occur then.

More than likely, the shudder will not be noticable under med/heavy throttle.

In most cases, the shudder doesn't hurt anything but it can be a bargaining chip.

I took the car for a test ride..shifts nice!!! transmisson fluid was clean not burnt..The car has 140,000 on it...It has a BBK cold air intake,BBK TB,High flow cats,Flowmaster cat back..seems pretty quick actually...The only problem i found is the rear makes noise possible axle bearing or the rear is going..or someone did a gear change and didnt do it right...I guess that could be fixed the car otherwise is in really nice shape,,,Black with Black leather interior....

Not a bad looking car What rims & size?

If you happen to post up some engine pictures we might be able to help spot a few more mods.
