TREMEC 3550 OWNERS, COUPLE QUESTIONS.

I just picked up a Tremec 3550 for my 92 GT and I did a few searches but found many different answers.....

Can you tell me what the 3 plugs in the picture below are in order....And when I order a aluminum drive shaft will it be different from a t-5? Thanks

I have a 3550 but i can't tell ya


I'm pretty sure #3 is the backup lights, which i don't have hooked up. One of the others i think is for electric speedometer...not sure about the other or which is which.

#1 Neutral saftey switch

#2 Speedo

#3 Reverse/back up lights

correct thats what they are for. The stock mustang driveline will fit just the input shaft is diffrent. Any reason you got this trans over a astro T-5? peace

#1 with the threads on the connector is a backup switch
#2 Is the VSS sensor
#3 Is the neutral safety swich that the computer uses to determine if the transmission is in neutral. It has nothing to do with the starter circuit.

Yep Jr is right
#1 backup
#2 VSS
#3 Neutral safety
Just got this info from the tranny guy at the dealership(ford). Im unfortunately at work right now.

I used my motorsport Alum D/S from my T5 with my 3550. No problems with balance or fitting.

3550 uses the same driveshaft as a T5. The input shaft is a 10 spline just like a T5 as well.
