Well, you guys helped with the 8" question. And whether you know it or not, saved me a but load of money on a rack and pinion set up. So now the question is, were can I save a butt load of money on a Tremec TKO 500 or 600? Everywhere I look its between $1600 to $1800. Thanks.

I don't think there is much money to save on this one... I'd go with the Keisler Perfect-Fit kit just for the convenience of it. It has all the parts needed for the swap, but you're looking at north of $3000.

You gotta look at the whole picture here. You don't just need the transmission, but you also need crossmember mount, slip yoke, speedometer cable, u-joint, axle, backup light harness, bell housing, etc, etc...

The Keisler Perfect-Fit let's you take care of all that in one order, plus, you don't have to hack up the car. Which is always a good thing.

Are you sure about not hacking the car? What about the driveline angle?

On a '69 I'm pretty sure it's not a problem, but then again, the Toploader was original equipment on them, and both the TKO and the T-56 is based on the Toploader design. Don't know for earlier models Can they fit Toploaders without modifications? I think I read somewhere it might be an issue on '65-'66 cars, however the TCP adjustable motormounts might be a remedy. I think you can drop the engine 1" with those for those years.

There isn't much to be saved on the 500 or 600. On my 90 it was still a 2500 dollar expense for everything to my door from www.ddperformance.com and that is considered really reasonable.
