Will the tremec transmission fit on my 1996 Mustang GT? Also will the flywheel and clutch still be compatible? Thanx

You will have to modify the tranny mount. The 3650's mounting point sits a little different. I had problems with my driveshaft rubbing a lot on my lowered stang when I did the engine and tranny swap. It probably could have been modified more so it would sit at a better angle but I said heck with it and put my old T45 back in.

the t-45 is a model #, the t-45 is made by Tremec. If you are looking to upgrade, I would look at the TKO trans, (their are a couple of them) or the heavy duty t-56 which is 6 speed and standard equip. (I think) on 03-04 cobras.

T45 used to be made by Borg Warner until Tremec bought them out. but it is definitely not worth upgrading to the 3650. There are a lot of issues with the 3650's, check the sticky on top of the tech page. When I had it on my car for a month, it was a piece. Maybe I just had a bad one but it was very Whiney and rough compared to my old T45. Do what dhrusk1 said with upgrading to the TKO or T56.

check out ford racing site, they have a lot of tremec trans listed and most of them will fit in most any mustang, depending on your car and the trans you may need a new bellhousing or crossmember brace and or other slight mods. Steeda and many other online stores sell these transmissions too.

The 3650, out of the box, is world's better than the T-45. It is much stronger and shifts a hell of a lot better than the T-45. Even with an aftermarket shifter, the 45 is like a baseball bat in a rainbarrel compared to the 3650. The 3650 uses an 11" clutch, but you can use the 10.5" from a 45 with a 10.5" flywheel.
