Tri-Ax, Pro 5.0 - Who has owned both?

its not exactly what your wanting but...

a buddy of mine just bought a 97 cobra. He had a UPR (tri-ax rip off) in his 00GT the 97 has a MGW...the first thing he said was DAMN that is one HELOVA shifter...perfect.

My buddy had an 89 with a Pro 5.0. He liked it a lot, but the shifter handle broke off while he was driving about 2 years after he put it in. He had to get the shifter handle welded back in place.

I have and this is what I found out I liked I like the tri ax handle and the pro 5.0 shifter so thats what I use now its a combo of the 2 you buy the pro 5.0 shifter and you can buy the tri ax handle. I also like that steeda knob with the rubber around it.

I've seen quite a few other folks say the same thing also.

I have had both and the shift was about the same but the pro5.0 handle is strait and the tri-ax is bent back and toward the driver. I like the tri-ax because of the handle placement.

I've driven them all except for a Hurst shifter...

I have owned both the Steeda and Pro 5.0. I liked the Pro 5.0 better, felt stouter and I shifted quicker with it...

laxdman20 - How did he break it off? Did the plastic screws break...I can't see actually breaking the handle...it isn't supposed to be welded to the base anyways...

The pro50 is good for track only use. Too hard to operate. Supposedly a longer handle helps this problem.

the steeda is a much better balance of performance and ergonomics....Personally, I will get a steeda when i do.

Everyone is drooling over the MGW right now and I have heard nothing but good things about them.

Well for those wondering about the hurst , i will give mi honest opinion :

Is a good shifter but i will have to make my arms a little longer LOL, no seriously is a little more far than stock , and the stop bolts on the 2,4,R are on constant touch with the shaft and make it really noisy , nothing that a little bush or some plastic cap , cant fix , in other ways great shifter!
