I took out my lower intake manifold because I thought the head gaskets were leaking: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=633833 I cleaned off the gaskets on the lower manifold and the 4 corner ports are pretty pitted.

Do you think that it's safe to put the gaskets back on like it is right now, or should I just get a new lower? I was thinking of putting a little sealant to try and fill the gaps a little, but wasn't sure how effective it would be.

I dont know if this is a good idea or not, but its a suggestion. Maybe fill the pits with some JB weld and sand it flush?

That's what I'll probably do. The pitting's not too bad, so a little bit in there should seal it up fine. Thanks for the help

Mine are a hell of a lot worse than that and I've never even given it a thought. I use a quick dab of RTV around the water passages before I put the gasket on and I've never had a problem.

Yeah mine are bad too, use some RTV and you'll be fine.

Change out your coolant every year to refresh the corrosion inhibiters. I do fill severely pitted intakes with epoxy and sand them flush and I use a VERY thin coat of RTV.
