You make valid points and I'm posting here because I want the critical feedback, so here's my response.For all the money you are going to spend is the 15-35 hp worth it? I mean if you were class racing or something like that o get it but man this is a stick of cash and time for nothing you will feel in the seat of your pants.
No don’t get me wrong as I understand the whole “challenge accepted” and it would be an accomplishment so if you are good with that march on. Why not send the upper to get ported or something like that?
I only say that as it’s what I’m going to do with a Series R upper for a 410 build. It’s a ways off as I need the heads (most likely the 11R 227’s) so I can get it all port matched but it’s what I’m going to do.
I dont see how to attach the Standard AL482 cap as the old collar is attached by two screws and the new cap is snapped in place.Would this help?

Those are noth Vac operated. I have not looked at ours to see if the same is possible.
This would likely solve my distributor height issue and honestly save me almost $1K for a distributor, ignition box and adapter connector.I keep meaning to try it but never got around to it.
I have a spare distributor out in the garage. I may order the parts and see what's what, first-hand.

Nearly all of my challenges are because I refuse to go with a high rise hood. As such, I'm working around engineering challenges of height and space and solutions to these challenges are parts replacements and/or alterations of existing parts. All of this is expensive.
All of the articles I read say the Box R is farrrrrr superior to the R-Series in airflow. Even porting the R-Series would net minimal gains as compared to an out of the box Box-R. Hell, in that article I posted, the Miata guy picked up 33 horsepower on his 331 with the Box-R over the Series R. 33 with no other mods!
I plan on having the car long term, like decades more. So why would a few thousand dollars matter in 2026 if the car jumps from 400 rwhp to 430-440 rwhp and I get to enjoy that additional horsepower for decades ahead.
And lastly, this is why we have these things...to modify and make them better. My car is never truly going to be finished. I'll do the k member and coil overs next, but after a year or so of not tinkering with it I'll get bored and will want to modify it some more.
Ford rates the Z2363 at 507 hp with a carburetor. I suspect it would make a solid 440 with this Box R.I’ll be honest for all the work, I’ll bet you talk to a reputable cam guy like Brian Freezy ( who I use ) , Ed Curtis , and or Bullet themselves and there’s a lot left on the table for a camshaft hp wise while keeping the same drivability. Again for all this work this would pick up more then the intake alone. Both though would make a huge difference.

I see no reason that car can’t make over 500 at the tire with a 363.
