Tried to get it inspected but

there's a safety recall on my parking brake? A '96, so if this is old news let me know. I noticed the handle rubbed on the drivers side console some, but does that have anything to do w/it?

My handle rubs against the center console so bad that I can't even use the ebrake anymore or it'll rip that rubber piece apart. I tried fixing it myself when I replaced my carpeting. I tried everything, from shifting the ebrake assembly to the right by drilling new holes in the floor pan to getting a new ebrake handle. Nothing has worked.

Thats what happened to my rubber piece. I had been pushing toward the passenger side when using it, but I forgot to a couple of times. So there is no fixing this? :bang:

I don't know if there is any way to fix it, I have already asked in the past but no one responded. If anyone knows a way, I too would highly appreciate it. I am real close to just buying a newer style center console (such as the ones on the 03 Cobras). By doing this, I won't need to worry about the ebrake rubbing because the newer mustangs have different ebrakes (they actually have an ebrake boot, much like a shift boot).
