trilink and panhard?

From what i have been able to glean from my research the ultimate combo is the evolution motorsports tri link and watts linkage. However from what i know of the watts they typically create issues with exhaust routing, hurt ground clearance, and make it a pain to access the differential cover. that and the watts costs a pretty penny.

anyone know how well the tri link and panhard combo would work>? i was origionally going to go with the torque arm and panhard, but i want to ensure i have no issues with wheel hop under braking, however remote it is. also considering i might be getting kenne bell next year and 3.73s i dont want to have to put down the money for the heavy duty TA just to find out that i am not going to be able to get the blower. the trilink has no power issues regarding breakage. so, in short, does anyone think it would be problematic going with the trilink and panhard, over the TA/PH, or tri/watts?

aside from being the most managable and accepting regarding cclearance it is also a good deal cheaper combo then going with the standard two of either company. anyone have any thoughts?

Watts vs Panhard

Both have superior qualities. The EVO Watts setup has alot of problems with fitmet, It is hard to install and you have to reroute alot of parts in order to have it installed correctly. The Watts setup IS better than the Panhard bar/rod setup BUT only by a small margin.

Like I said the install is terrible and I would/have chosen the MM Panhard bar/rod setup. Which I have.

What fitment problems?

What needs to be re-routed?

There is only a slight issue with passenger side tailpipes. Not unlike some of the problems you find with a panhard rod. Beyond that, I am not sure what else needs to be rerouted, or what makes for a difficult install...

Wow, the all knowing mike... didnt even know you were on this board. first saw you in Corner Carvers.

possibly you can answer some questions for me, well, being creator and all.... I have some serious concerns about the watts link in a few areas, though i am completely sold on the trilink finally after having my E-mails answered (thanks by the way).

on the watts, aside from the lack of having a slight arc to the axle on compression is there any other benafit to the watts? I noticed yours is a good bit different from the griggs (for that i am glad) but am curious to know how much more noise one would get. the extra road noise, vibrations, and harsher ride is irellivant to me as i drive 200-400 miles a day... but my concern resides in the movement of the arms/endlinks of the watts its self. will there be noticible sounds comming from the movement of the watts? does the watts lose any ground clearance at all (point to point transport includes lots of speedbumps)? I dont much care which i go with be it watts or panhard as both are proven for pure performance and will each complete a suspension system with ease.

aside from the above i had a question on differential covers. with all the hardware that will be put on (trilink and either watts or PHB) i am wanting to get a differential cover that has fill and drain plugs on the front. the trilink plate looks to be simple to remove, so that does not bother me, but will the further protrusion of another cover conflict with the watts?

Finally. on the watts, do you think the price will come down with a special promotion at any time? money is another factor on this to a point if everything else looks to be in order.

on an off point, would you please come around more often? people with high end suspension knowlede are VERY hard to find here, and even a bias view would be welcomed as long as knowledge is brought to the table.

There will be no noticebal sounds coming from the watts. It is pretty quiet, even in competition form. You may get a little NVH from the TriLink, but again nothing horrible. I run the Watts and TriLink and with the radio on I don't notice a thing. The actual crank pivot on the watts moves only slightly.

You will not lose any ground clearance with the watts.

The watts will not work with a diff cover; however the TriLink will. If you simply want the ability to drain the rear easily you can add a drain plug to the stock cover. Something like this:

The watts will remain pretty constant. If you pair it with the TriLink you can save a few bucks.

I monitor the traffic on our site. When I see traffic from the message boards I know where to go. I will try to keep up with things.

Pipes as you said, rear swaybar.

I never had problems with pipes or anything with my install of my PHB/R .

I applaud you on a great product though.

Tom, if they are close.... within 30 min perhapse... mind swinging in and giving a third party "review" on things? i have seen many pictures of the watts and trilink but never have everything covered.... any chance in a stop in? :)

not until im done rebuilding my engine, I will stop by some day and i'll take pics.

We are really out of MI. I live in PA and work out of my house. My fiance actually lives in bethlehem, so if I am ever up there in my black mustang, you can check everything out.

You are right about the exhaust re-route. The stabar, as well, but everything is included for that. If push came to shove, you could probably avoid the Stabar re-route.

what is the exhaust change needed? granted i'll be doing the suspension before the exhaust (already got the springs and dampers, the rest will come with money) but knowledge is good to have before i have to rethink everything.

and I am guessing you guys dont need a demo car for the NC area... or do you :))

Sorry....we have all the demo cars we need.....:)

With regards to the exhaust change. On the passenger side the axle tower interferes with the tailpipe. You just need to change the geometry of the tailpipe that hoops up over the axle. It's a simple change any exhaust shop can do.
