My Oil Pressure Switch recently began leaking tons of oil so I’m using a Pulley Remover I rented from Autozone remove my PS Pulley so that I may replace the OP switch. In process of doing so, I ended up stripping away the lip the tool clings on to while removing. Any help removing the pulley or other ways to replace the Oil pressure switch will be appreciated.

FWIIW, the times I have had to work on the oil pressure switch and/or the oil filter adapter I did not find it necessary to remove the power steering pulley. And yes it can be a real PIA to remove the pulley.

I remember doing the job on my 1996. I honestly don't recall doing anything "special" to get access. OBTW, what model year Mustang are we dealing with here?

If access is a concern consider (after disconnecting the electrical connector):
  • using a wrench from the side of the oil pressure switch. Likely easier from below with the car slightly lifted.
  • removing the lower radiator hose.
