I have a truck 4.6 and auto trans from a 98 F150. I want to know if there are any differences between the mustang engine and the truck engine besides the cam and intake. Was thinking of a swap into a 71 F100.
the flywheel is different so if your swapping it to a manual youll need a new flywheel. The biggest difference is in the main caps. the truck has more strength. I speak from experience lol.
OK, so the flywheel is diff. Is it because of the crank to flywheel flange being diff. Are just the caps bigger or is the crank also bigger in the main section. Are the heads diff in the port design and the valve size or? I will propably use the matching auto trans. I have the engine harness and computer as well as the maf. I know it would be a small task to accomplish the swap but....
mechanicly you should be ok. BUT one problem i see is with the pats system. the PCM needs to see a pats code, and in this swap it won't so you might have to have the pcm reflashed by a tuner and have the pats system disabled, along with the rear 02's and the evap emmisions.
