I believe my trunk lid springs have finally given up. The trunk lid won't stay up any more. Are there replacement springs available?? Or any other solution??
are they coiled up springs, or tension bars? when I took off the springs off my 68 to paint, I didnt coil them up tight enough and the trunk lid didnt stay open. I had to take them off again and redo it, works great now.
It doesn't sound like you've removed the springs, but if you have, it bears repeating that the install is counterintuitive (at least up through '68).
See this thread, http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=678266, for moreon how to install the torsion bars. I thought mine were shot until I actually followed the procedure described in the thread.
Also, make sure that the spot welds on the brackets for the torsion bars haven't broken. I had that happen too.
The hinges were not removed but we did take off the lid to replace the skin. Before body work, the lid would stay up. After body work it won't. Any idea how to fix it??
