trunk seal install

how do you guys who have done this before suggest i do it? i bought that 3M weatherstripping seal glue (yellow), but that stuff makes a huge mess and gets all over the place.

Put a little glue in a bead around the trunk and also some on the seal.As you put it down on to the trunk,use a little masking tape to hold it.Wipe off any excess glue before it dries.

They make the 3M weatherstrip glue in black now which does not show as bad.

Use "Goof Off". Can buy it Home Depot. It works GREAT to remove the extra glue.

the seals profile is a triangle shape. which side face the top of the lid? the base, or the peak?

Before you start to glue make sure the gasket is warm and flat with no twists or kinks in the rubber, as this will cause a major headache. Some gaskets are being shipped all foded and twisted up. Try to find one that is rolled up evenly in a bag. Then put it out in the sun for 1/2 hour.

anyone have a link that shows an install? it seems that every way i tape the gasket into place, it wont let the trunk close.
