I was talking about doing this a few months ago, and now I have some donor parts.
I drug a 98 Mustang home the other day, that has these trunklid shocks, so I'm going to use them in converting my 68's trunk lift. I might start working on it today. If anyone is interested I could take pics of how everything goes.

is the 98 a hatch car? if so, the shocks are going to be too strong... you need to match the weight of the decklid, and also the stroke... im going to convert mine over, i have one shock, i think it is from a grand am. go to the bone yard, and find a car with the bolt on brackets (im thinking chrysler minivan)i had to loose the spring rods on my 65, because my sub box/ amp rack needed the room

I've done one side, and it opens very nicely, but I'm not sure if I like the looks of it yet. Here is a pic.

I think it might look better if the end attached to the body was further forward, toward the back glass like this pic of my 04. This would require a longer shock.

I should have re-aligned my trunklid before I started because it was slightly off center, and I'm not sure if everything will clear on one that is on right. I will try to re-align it and put the struts back on and let you know if everything clears ok.

I am open to suggestions any of you may have.
