VSS and OSS sensors are NOT Compatible

I am assuming you mean the electrical connectors on the transmission. Note, Ford changed designs along the way. The older transmissions use a Vehicle speed sensor (VSS). The new transmission use an Output shaft sensor (OSS). They are NOT compatible with each other. The sensor used MUST match the car's PCM.

This is why it is important to use a transmission configured for the correct MY.

It may be possible to transplant the VSS from the old transmission to the donor. Some tear down of the tail shaft will be needed.

Good luck.
