I do not know an easy fix, but thanks for posting this info. I was thinking about upgrading my toy's axle to 31 spline. Guess I will have to be more carefull.
You could measure the carrier bore and axles, and take the diff carrier to a machine shop and have it drilled or bored, perhaps. Or turn down a portion of the axle. Might lose some strength, but it would fit.
