03 tune / pully / predetor / dyno?
$670.00

Is that a fair price, or very high? I don't want to name the local tuner, just want to price shop.

Not naming names, but there's a place by me (one of the best imho) that is getting $1395 for pulley, mufflers, chip, and custom dyno/street tune for the 03+ Cobra's......

That's a good price considering the Predator is worth $400+ and the pulley is a little less than $100. The only question is the dyno tune and what all that encompasses.... does this tuner have the ability to write a custom tune for the Predator right there at the shop? Will he download this custom tune into your Predator and then flash it into the ECM as part of the dyno tune? If you tell him you want a 11.7 A/F ratio across the board will they spend 2 or more hours on the dyno getting it right for that price? How much will this tuner charge you to update your tune if you get new or additional mods?

Sounds like this tuner is going to install a pulley, then flash your ECM with the Predator's "Pulley Tune", and then finally dyno it to make sure the A/F is safe. I'm betting if additional dyno tuning or Predator tweaking is involved it won't be covered under that $670 price. What happens if for some reason your Cobra doesn't respond to the pulley + Predator tune correctly and thusly requires a "Custom" Predator tune? Can your tuner do this at his facility? Just some things to think about....

www.alternativeauto.com.

Yes, he did all the work to my car. Here's some pics (best I have on this computer/with me anyway):

Thanks UM... I will ask those exact questions

They are a well known tuner in the St Louis MO area - they only tune Fords, and mainly mustangs. They claim with my exhaust setup, I will see 110 hp on the dyno.. they will do before and after dyno's and I know they adjust a/f via the dyno...

They also said I could have a free pull with my bassani cat's installed and without so I can finally answer how much you gain/lose with out cats

Hmmmm... if they are going to do all that for $670.... ITS A GREAT DEAL! Many dyno shops charge BIG $$ to leave your car on a dyno, pull after pull until they get the A/F correct, change out cats on the x-pipe, etc.... I say go for it!

P.S. Don't forget to ask them if they have the ability to create "custom" Predator tunes right there at the shop.

My opinion and others that have shared the same:
1. Water and oil temp...not a neccessity.
2. Boost gauge is nice to have....know what boost you are making, and can detect if you are having any issues with the belt slipping and such. Not very expensive at all.
3. Fuel pressure...this is something I felt was a must have. I would want to catch any problems with fuel problems BEFORE it was too late.

The 3 gauge may also be a bit much. I'm running boost and fuel gauge on the A-pillar....just installed the Raptor Shift light too and mounted it under the bottom gauge.

99SVTAddict, where did you get your a-piller pod? I think guages are neat to look at, adds a bit of tuning touch feel to the car. I would like to find some that closely match the 03 cobra's dash gauges for a more factory look...

I am scheduled to get the chip/pully middle of July. I swear the stock h pipe pulls much harder to 3.5k RPMs... Since I found out about the computer flash for the 03 cobra's...(a better calibration) I made the dealer appointment, so I removed the x-pipe and put the factory h-pipe back on just to make sure the dealer wouldn't give me an flack over it... man.. I know I pull harder to 3k.... tires feel very slippery... I know I lost rwtq with the x-pipe... when I do the dyno.. I will know for sure...

Granted, it is probably due to a lean condition and a proper tune would no doubt help.. but until then, the bassani will look nice on the wall in the garage
