Tunes...are they purchased

if the part needs a custom tune you would need to talk to a custom tuner like Brent @ Brentspeed or Doug @ Bamachips, etc...

Brent told me after I bought my SCT Xcal2 that if I made changes to the engine, "supercharger etc" he would email me an updated file that I can load into the SCT and re tune.

steedastang06 is very right on the places to go.

If that's what Brent told you ? then you can rest assure that he's being straight forward..But I wouldn't advise going with an e-mail tune for something as important as adding a SC ? I would definitely get a custom tune unless your just adding simple bolt-on's such as cold air intakes and CMVC delete plates..

You are right about the "emailed" tune but unfortunately for me I am stationed overseas at the moment and noone over here in the UK has the Advantage software so emailed tunes is all i have

Well thanks! I guess I could have misunderstood how I would get the update. For some reason, I thought thats what Brent said. I was just using the super charger as an example. I so far just have the SCT Xcal2 and the C&L CAI. I also added a set of Pypes Violators axel backs that were polished stainless.
Brent sure is a nice guy, and was great in helping an old man "me" with any questions. Could you please tell me what CMVC delete plates are sir? Oh and while im goin for it here, do you feel that the 93 tune that I use, should be re-flashed from time to time? Seems I heard that after a time the ECM starts to relearn my driving habits so to speak. True?

That's right, your overseas and I should have taken that into consideration before I posted ? so I apologize for my ignorance..But my understanding is you haven't installed a SC have you ? otherwise you'll be just fine with e-mail tunes..All I was trying to get across is if you planed on installing a supercharger ? I would rather play it safe by getting a custom tune on something that serious than risk something going wrong with an e-mail tune

Oh ok.. I didn't know you were using the supercharger as an example ? so I apologize for my misunderstanding..Anyhow, you'll be just fine with e-mail tunes for your bolt on mods..As for what the CMVC delete plates are ? they replace your factory intake mainfold runners or rails that have these flaps which are designed for emission purposes to begin slowly opening after 1500 rpm's or so to allow for more air-flow..But on the other hand ??? their also considered as an air restriction as well ? the delete plates though, don't have these open and close flaps and don't restrict airflow at all and from what I understand ? their good for an additional 8-10 HP. So for under $100.00 it's well worth looking into.. As for reflashing your 93 tune from time to time ?? No you should only have to flash just once, unless your either adding more bolt on parts or if theres an update for your tune, or if for some reason you would have to reflash back to stock.. As for the ECM learning your driving habits ? I can't really say one way or the other.. personally speaking ? I haven't noticed any difference in over a year since I've owned my Stang ? Anyway, hope I've explained everything correctly because I'm far from what you would consider an expert, but I gave it my best shot..

I was told buy Brenspeed when I bought my tuner that if I buy aftermarket parts from them they will suppy the tune at no charge. So if I buy parts from other places I will have to buy tunes as well.
