nothing worse than a list of parts with out some form of punctuation. your next mod if i were you would be tires and see how much closer you get to your goal. then heads and intake. after that you should find yourself in the 12s. then go for boost?

Ran the blower in '08, with all bolt ons and 16psi, it put down 495rwhp. Only change for '09 was the switch to turbo. With 11psi, it put down 525rwhp. The turbo is way more fun to drive for me, i'm hooked! Upping the boost(goodbye stock shortblock!?!?) and swapping to an auto here in a month or so...can't wait!!

Turbo from here on out for me!!!

ps.....Vortech V-2 SQ for sale,lol!!

Nice number with the turbo set up, but you have to admit, a SQ Vortech is a little on the small side to be spinning that hard....especially when comparing it to a 70mm Turbo. That's like comparing the capability of a YSi to an old T3/T4 from a Turbo Coupe Thunderbird. Not downplaying your horsepower improvement by any stretch, but your gains would have been a lot less dramatic switching to the turbo had you started out with a more appropriately sized head unit for your projected power levels like a T-Trim, or a Novi 2000.

You think so? Considering the parasitic losses of any supercharger?

I have no doubt that the Turbo will make more power, with less effort.

....I'm just saying instead of 495hp@16psi that he was seeing from spinning the crap out of the SQ (well past its efficiency range), he might have been making the same 525hp at 12-14psi with a T-Trim, or a Novi 2000 more suited to those power and RPM levels in comparison to his making 525hp@11psi through the 70mm hair dryer.

I also don’t see an intercooler used with the Vortech (although he does state he later added a Mr Freeze Water/Methanol kit) but I’m certain I see an intercooler tucked behind the front facia of his new Turbo set up….is it running the Water/Meth set up as well? All are big deciding factors when comparing power figures, wouldn’t you think?

In any case, I agree, the parasitic loss is most certainly a factor, but I don’t think to quite the extent that his example provides. It only seems so dramatic because of two such different classed power adders. The S-Trim is a Ford Taurus to the 70mm Turbo's Mustang GT status. It just might have been a closer comparison if he started the race with the bigger brother SHO (T-Trim/Novi 2000) to begin with.

Again...not downplaying the gains made by the swap to the Turbo. Just putting it into a realistic perspective.

No meth with the blower, had it hooked up but never used it....not using it with the turbo either....yet. Probably re-install it when i turn the boost up. I don't think i was really turning the blower that hard, 2.95 pulley shifting at 6300rpm and 3.73's.

Thanks NikwoaC, i didn't have time to adjust the clutch before they shut the track down for the final test and tune of the year....i believe it should have ran .40's.

Power under the curve helps a lot with the turbo too. Centrifi superchargers are my least favorite power adder.

I dont think comparing a T-trim to a 70mm turbo is fair either, a 70 is a good street sized turbo for a small motor, a t-trim is a pretty serious blower, capable of making 7 to 800rwhp, a mp70 isnt gonna touch that. The MP70 is most definitly like the entry level turbo, then from there guy will mabye step up to a 74 or 76mm turbo. Just like a guy going from an S to T-trim
