I have a vast idea of going carb when I go with a 331/347 in the future. But the overall dream of mine is to turbo the motor. Is is possible these days to run a turbo carb set up. If my memory serves me correctly I have seen it done one time atleast but I could be wrong. Anyone with knowledge on carb or turbos please give your input. Thank you.

I believe its possible with just a carb enclosure. How come you wanna go carb?

I dont see why not. A simple tube can be ran to the carb coming from the cold side of the turbo. Nowadays, I cant imagine that it is impossible.

the original turbo'd engines were carbed -'course it can be done. day to day drivability can suffer, etc. but it can be done.

On Yahoo Groups you can find a bunch of guys that do this with very impressive results.

Tons & tons of posts for you to research but their search engine and forum format kinda leaves something to be desired.

Yea, I found the area at turbomustangs right after i made this post. If I ever went the carb route it would be in a few years when the car becomes strictly track car, but I haven't totally decided on it. I like the ability to adjust fuel/air mixtures a lot easier than with the eec plus there wouldn't be that pesky computer freaking out about everything. Also, it cleans the engine bay up a lot. The only harness you can still see in my bay is the eec harness and the fuel injector harness. Once those are gone there won't be any ugly wires. But we'll see what happens in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

just say no

i had turbocharged my carbed early model stang once. still have the set up. its on a shelf in my garage where it belongs. got 15 lbs of boost out of it. was enough to smoke a forged piston. had nothing but problems. tried everything. got 104 mph at track, but only 14 sec. e.t. you do the math. ill sell it to ya if your interested. i was holding out to do the opposite of you. waiting to fuel inject with felpro or dfi for simple laptop tuning. believe me its easier. more guys around these days that can tune injection than can a carb. and i know how to tune a carb. use the parts you already have.
