Why dont you put on your ported lower? The lower is a huge restriction on the 5.0 that will net you some good horsepower!

find out how much boost he is running and let us know.
my buddy was running a fully built single over head cam civic motor, what ever one that is the slow one.in a heavy 4 door car.
with like 14-16psi and its the only import i have ever driven that got my addreniline goin 12.9 at least
(am i the only one who feels like im gonna break it when i power shift a honda.lol those cars are built weak!!)
my freind made him get out and listen to the blow off valve while i beat his car cuz he sucks.
most import kids cant shift, so anyway i think your gonna lose!!! sorry. prove me wrong. i dont want you to lose but
its gonna depend alot on his boost and traction.

HAVE YOU EVER RIDDEN IN HIS CAR??

never rode in his car since the new motor, he used to have a fully built b16A motor and my old lx with just gears/exhaust/pulleys and little stuff would stomp on that car consistently, maybe thats why he got this motor i'm going to try and make him give me a car length and i think i'm going to take him up on that 500$ bet too. i know his car is faster at the track on slicks or on paper, i'm just hoping FWD, little street tires, no limited slip and peaky powerband will make it so hard to drive on the street that i'll get him! i guess we'll see if i have some money for gears or my wallet gets realllll light i'm happy either way, i wouldn't be betting it if i couldn't afford to lose it!

I've driven a H22A civic and thats by far the biggest misconception ever. How can putting MORE weight on the front wheels make it not want to turn. That's insane. I have no idea why everyone thinks that that makes the car handle bad. This was one of the best handling FWD car's I've EVER gotten the chance to experience. I had a 94 Preude H22A and it also handled great. I brought the H22A civic to the track last fall and and raced my buddys 02GT. He ran a 13.8 @ 100 with a 2.0 60', and I ran a 13.7 @ 101 with a 2.1 60 foot on 215 tires. Damn was he pissed. And this H22A is stock. Those things are no joke if you can drive em. I launched at full throttle and shifted at 9,100 rpm. That turbo GSR should be even faster if the kid can drive. Be careful.

so i ran this cat last night and took him by a car length and a half, he only is running 10 psi by the way and he hasn't had it tuned on a dyno yet either, we ran again with a flagger for an even start and i still took him by about a car, he pretty much just spun so bad in the first gear that it was pretty much over, i pulled almost three car lengths on him from the beginning and he started to pull me in pretty hard in his third gear, but he couldn't catch me! i only let him give me 250$ instead of his original big mouthed 500$ cause hes my neighbor and all, my friend videotaped it so i'll try and get that and figure out a way to post it, so yay! 250$ and my neighbor has to shut his damn mouth i'm pretty stoked, i'm going to run him again when he gets his tuning issues figured out, of course he was all excuses: i was detonating, its not tuned, the clutch was slipping, the car isn't holding boost, yada yada.

so what should i buy now....................

I'm going to give you an official HELL YEAH, in capital letters. I get so tired of these bench racers. Every time someone says "turbo civic" they think it has something. Maby so, but probally not. That's the usuall answer.

I bet he feels pretty crappy, all that work and got beat by a basic setup wth a little spray. All that smack talk is right back in his mouth, I bet it hurts. Take that money and put a turbo on your car, that will really put him in his place, it will render everything he has done irrevilent. (sp) It's one thing if he's just a hotrodder working with what he's got. I respect anyone who works on thier car themselves and make it fast themselves no matter what it is rather than even give a Z06, Farrari, Viper, ect an ounce of respect. However being cocky like that, he got schooled.

thanks bro , i was pretty stoked and he shut the hell up after that, those crazy honda's are just not really that fast on the street from a dig, on the freeway from a roll or at the track on slicks hes probably faster, but i also got my whole car for less than his turbo kit cost and i probably dont even have a total of 1000$ in it either, seems like most of the import guys i know dont really know what they are doing, just a bunch of parts slapped together based on magzine ads, and we all know how well those set ups run

ahhhhh, the smell of victory and the taste of 250$ to shut that fool up proper.............

yeah man awesome job. i think its funny that we Fox body mustang guys, get these super cheap domestic cars, modify them for dirt cheap(atleast compared to JDM) then they haul so much ass. and the best part is the fastest mustangs look just like every other mustang on the road. maybe differnt rims or one is lower than the other. BUT, i just think its funny how fast we make our old 80's cars for so cheap while they spend all their money on go-fast parts that dont do chit for performance. check out my sig, i think you'll like it

It was nice of you to only take half of what the bet was originally. You think he would have done that for you? At least he paid up w/o a fight. I am sure his feelings took the biggest hit, along with the ego. I hope he relizes that if it was just a race, no smack talk, he wouldn't have had to walk with his tail between his legs.

So freaking true. It pisses ricers off so bad. I grew up with a couple guys that had an old 302 Maverick, wasnt' that fast but at least it had a V8. They sold it (twins, had to share the car) and got Civics hatchbacks 2dr's. One stuck with the 1.6 but got all forged internals, DOHC head (del sol engine forged) and was spraying 175 I belive. Ran the best of 9.2 in the 1/8th, suposidly with a 2.4 60foot but still, all that money to run 9's in the 1/8th, come on. The other got a 1.8 GSR motor, was so confident, got killed at every range by a stock 5.0 with a 3.73 gear. They like to talk about HP:weight ratio, but what they don't understand is that thier cars arn't that light. The 2dr Hatch weighs about 2200-2300lbs, but a foxbody coupe only weighs 3000lbs. You can get one down to the 2500lbs range pretty easily.

Ricers, when are they going to learn?

Yea I raced a guy in a Riced out Kia Spectra...hahahaha! the guy was reving his engine at the light. sounded like he was bouncing off the rev limiter, and this was when my car was completly stock! Light turned green and I smoked the tires all the way into 3rd gear just having fun and i was still about 2 car lengths in front of him. Then I grabed and just left him. Most ricers just have noisy cars that are all look and no show. Even with a lot of work on them they still dont go anywhere.

I have a friend that is currently building his GSR. He will have just about everything you can name on that motor. He has messed up in a couple of different places (head work, and cams). It will be a turbo set-up, and im not sure which turbo he is gonna get, but his goal is 500 and He doesn't know how to choose parts. I tell him what to buy most of the time. Im one of his "vtec reps," and he also listens to this parts shop that is over here in Arlington.
His car better be fast, but there is a 11 barrier that thoses cars can't really go through (even with slicks). I want to give him a good run for his money with some spray and rear end gears

yes i know of that 11 sec barrier. closest i ever came was 11.4@121mph. and that was with a 1.6 60 ft time on full slicks. and i had everything on my integra. and it was gutted. not a daily driver really.
