Well I want to turbocharge my car but there's some problems Im runing into. 1st off its a 347 w/9.8 compression!!! I think if Im going the turbo route I have to lower it or only get like 6 or 7 psi. Second my car already making 350-400Hp at rear already so I can't run too big of a turbo or boom b*tch to the stock block.:( 3rd problem is I have 4.10s gear instead of 3.27 or 3.08 or 2.73. Any help with the situations?

well you can run low boost and tune the car to make 500RWHP or so...that should save the stock block until you can upgrade in that department...the gearing...ive always been told 3.73's are about as steep as you wanna go when boosted...but i dont think it could actually hurt the car to run boosted with 4.10's...its gonna be hard to hook it thats for sure...and your not gonna be able to keep it in boost as long as youd like....but it will still be hella fast...

i would go 3:08 gearing...

the engine CAN hold up and GO 9's if properly tuned!

I SEEN THEM GO THAT FAST MYSELF!

But with 9:8:1 compression...

You can go about 8psi before you will have some problems.

If you are feeling testy, you can unbolt your heads and take off about 3cc's out of each combustion chamber and lower your compression down to 9:3:1 and then add a slightly thicker gasket and get it down as close to 9:0 as you can.

Hmm... a nice turbo that will spool with a 347 is a Master Power T70 w/ .86 turbine(P-Trim).

Price on that turbo can range from $500-$550, or you can go the generic T70 route with a P-Trim turbing for $400.

A great investment with turbo is WIDEBAND, go order a WIDEBAND ASAP so you wont destroy your engine!(price~$400)

Figure in parts(tubing) will cost you
(3)-2.5 u bends @ 14.95/each from summit.
(3)-3" u bends @ 20.95/each summit
(1) Turbocharger $400-$550(depending on brand...etc)
(1) 38-40mm wastegate $155-$280(depending on brand...etc)
(1) blow off valve $110-$250(depending on brand...etc)
(1) pair of shorty length headers $80-$220(used/new variances)
(1) pair 3" 3 bolt flange set $20/pr summit
(1) pair 2.5" 3 bolt flange set $20/pr summit

if you need any help, just gimme an email or something and ill be glad to help you make a kit or what not.

Are your plans to run A/C? Smog?

I just finished my kit, and im going to start making a second one but this time, i will make it A/C compatable... so if you want to be a test dummy, let me know!

Yellow, thanks for posting and I've been following your thread on turbomustangs.com and you do some great work. I would like to keep my p/s becuase this will be mostly a street car. I dont have ac or smog and Im still debating on what side will the turbo will be mounted. I don't think Im going to remove any CC from the heads because I really don't know how and Im on a budget but I would like to lower it by some thicker head gasket what kind would you recommand? If I start this project I would like it to be done and up and running before 6 months. You think its possible? also you suggest me to take the 4.10s out and put some 3.08 s? last of all, Im learning how to weld as of this moment doing TIG and MIG and once I get it down Im going to buy a cheap Lincoln MIG welder and go at it but I would really like for you to take me step by step once everythings a go.

Price on that turbo can range from $500-$550, or you can go the generic T70 route with a P-Trim turbing for $400.
Where can I get one for that price? site?

no problem dude, i always like to help people out and spread the word it aint hard at all to turbo a stang.

So.. in the meantime... while i mount this kit on my car, im gonna start another kit in about a week and make it A/C compatable, because I also LIKE A/C!
keep me updated on the A/C compatible kit...because thats a big thing for me as far as power adders go...when the time comes i want the car to be boostin like crazy and blowin cold AC....
