Turn Signal problem on my '02 V6

Here's my problem:
My left and right turn signals work fine until...I turn on my lights at night, that's when the right side marker flashes very fast and on the dashboard the right side signal lamp stays on until I turn off my lights. I've replaced the bulbs, but I'ts doing the same problem. Anyone have any ideas?

wome one will get technical and actually help you fix this, i will just say, that there is a short or soemthing in the wire, this is uncommon, but not out of the ordinary, i see alot of ricers that have new parts on them, bumpers light wide bodies etc. and they must have screwed up the wiring, and the blikers flash like crazy, so, by all means someone tell him what to fix/replace!

Check your wiring, I believe that might be it. If not check your fuses.

Also the first time I replaced the bulbs it worked fine, then it started to "rapid flash" again.

Bad or corroded ground contact at either the front or rear directional lamp socket. when you changed the bulb you disturbed the connection, temporarily improving it.

It still has to be under original warrantee. Take it back to the dealership. Let them figure it out.

Great suggestions! Thank you.
Unfortunately my car was purchased at an auction and has no warranty, but I will have it checked out. I will check the sockets and fuses this weekend.

I would start with the front bulb because it's easier to access. Remove the entire socket with bulb from the housing, then try wiggling the bulb around in the socket while the turn signal is operating (gloves come in handy). The socket and housing are plastic, so you don't lose the ground connection when you remove the socket like 60's cars.
An ink eraser (the hard white kind) makes a fairly good socket contact cleaning tool.

yeah you definately have something shorted out. what front end mods have you done to your car? what kind of auction was this? most of the unless it was a totaled car you should still have your warranty...i'd check with ford (if you havent already)

you can also replace the flasher relay. the relay is what controls how fast the the lights blink. something my have gone bad with the relay. it's located under the dash beneath your steering wheel. look for the fusebox with all the fuses in it, and on the side of that fusebox, you'll see a small rectanglish box about two inches or so long... that's the relay. if you have trouble finding it, turn on your hazards and follow the clicking noise. the relay is what's making the clicking noise. i dunno how much new relays cost, but if everything else you've tried doesnt work, this wouldn't hurt to try it out. lemme know how it goes. =)

I think he said his left side works OK, and only the right signal has the problem. The flasher is common to both sides.
The flasher is designed to operate at a faster rate when the current is too low, so as to give you an indication that a bulb has burnt out or not making good connection.

Any other socket contact cleaning tool available? Spray?
Should I use another set of new bulbs or keep the ones that are on now? Thanks people.

No need to change the bulbs if they work. You can clean the contact wires or pins with an eraser if they are dirty.
If your bulbs are the wedge type, a woman's emery board (basically sandpaper in the shape of a popsicle stick) is a tool to insert and clean the socket contacts. Use the finest grit you can find.
