Tweecer problems...already...

Ok, I've got the key turned in the on position with the motor off. I've got the Tweecer plugged into the back of the computer, the line hooking the tweecer to the 5-way switch and the USB cable running to the computer. When I go to click "Read EEC," it says that it's "unable to open Tweecer."

I cleaned all the chit out of/off of the connecting areas.

Also, when I plug the Tweecer in, something comes up saying "welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard."

It says it will complete the installation of this device, but it needs to find drivers for the new device. When I search for drivers, something comes up and says insert a disk into the drive selected. I have no disk, so I assume that this is just something that can be skipped?

The guy I bought the Tweecer from said I needed to clear all his programs out because he forgot. So what I'm trying to do is read the stock T4MO program and save that into each of the positions. I've tried loading the J4J1 calibration, but it still says "unable to open Tweecer," so I'm assuming that it doesn't work.

I'm really lost...

EDIT:

when the found new hardware wizard asks to install software, tell it you want to specify where to look for the software. then find the STKR directory in which you installed the other tweecer software. then open the driver folder. then it should find the driver.

There is definitely a driver -- IIRC it is included with the software (not the BDE, the Calcon/Caledit package). That would explain why you can't read from it.

i think that is what i looked at when i had trouble finding the drive and whatnot

I got it y'all! I didn't even need your help. In fact, a woman helped me.

My mom installed the drivers.

Switched her over to the J4J1 calibration, changed the fan temps, and stoked her up. She sounds sweet.

Thanks for the help though. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions. I'm going to make a list; please believe it will be long too.

You are on the right track but without the usb driver you have no path from the pcm to the Tweecer.
