I'd say turbo for reliability, and blower for fun..The blower will begin making boost a lot lower in the rpm band, but the turbo will make more power up high..

I would probly go with the KB, just because i like s/c better, and one like the kb you will get more power at low rpms, but the turbo will kick at higher rpms.

Depends what you want on a daily driving basis. Turbo gives you more power up top and allows you to stay out of boost in the lower RPMs. KB would let you get into boost a lot sooner without having to rev very high.

It's a tough choice, good luck!

I think that overall a KB would be more reliable. It is generally trickier to get a tune spot on for turbo. Also with a kb everything comes in a kit with very detailed instructions as to where and how everything is supposed to go in which leaves a much smaller chance of error. I think you would be hard pressed to come up with a tt kit that has this kind of simplicity.

tt kits are really hard to instal i have heard, there just are soo many small little things that arn't just the perfect fit. and then the tune is also important, look were you live and see which you could get a better tune for the car with each set up

The KB down low, turbo up top theory is really over exaggerated(sp?).

It really all depends how the turbo's are sized. Assuming you go twin setup and its properly sized, you'll probably see full boost around 2500-3000rpm. When I was reading up on the KB last night, KB advertises full boost at 2000rpm. It really doesnt take long to go from 2000 to 2,500rpm. Its not like you have to wait till 4k rpm to make boost; each turbo is only going to have to kick out 4 to 6psi or so...that should come on in no time.

What I think you should be contemplating more is cost, and the character of both systems but not in the boost "lag" department. The KB is going to give you a much more smooth boost arival, even if the torque is very brutal down low. Other than the initial kick, its very predictable. The turbo setup will kick in shorty after the KB, but its really going to kick you in the ***. You're probably looking at roughly a 3k price difference between the two.

As a very broad statement, I think you'll have a better overall daily driver with the KB. You'll make alot more power with the turbo's though.

actaully on MPH you can get both the mongoose 2.6L KB and the 50mm TT kit for within $200 of eachother and the 2.6l KB is actually more expensive. and those are really good kits right there and you alo get a exceptionaly wonderful tune with em. soo then it comes down to more of taste,

If that was the case, I'd be going turbo.

Are you saying he's not right? Because um... he is...

KB 2.6: http://modularpowerhouse.com/produc...d=159&osCsid=3edb4945d0c4bcf833259223038f0ac9 You get everything but a cowl hood for $8850

HP TT 50mm: http://modularpowerhouse.com/produc...d=124&osCsid=3edb4945d0c4bcf833259223038f0ac9 Same deal, except you don't even need a hood, for $8635

And you can't forget that as far as shops with online stores go, MPH is pretty much the undisputed King of Mustangs.

by "everything" i mean all parts, everything installed at their shop, and dyno tuned.

Either setup will require (not recommended but required) a forged bottom end. Can I ask why the dive into the deep end...what's your goal here? Any reason you are passing on a single turbo or the smaller 2.1 KB?

^ . Boost is going to be the main factor when it comes to when you need a forged engine or not. I have twin 57s and am on the stock bottom end.

My turbos will make a minumum of around 7.5 PSI with my current wastegates. But im runing 8 and 9PSI.

Just because their "twins" doesnt automatically mean you NEED a forged engine. Now with the KB 2.6...it all depends on what its largest pulley makes.

If it's a DD street car then the KB 2.1 is plenty. If you want a 2.6 or twin turbo then either is going to cost you 15-20K with supporting mods to make it reliable. Going from N/A to a power adder anything you pick is gonna give you a big on your face.

He is just simply amazing....and a great friend to have.

We were finally able to coordinate schedules and get him to finish my new setup. A full VT setup - 302ci stroker 2v, VT Stage II heads, VT Stage III blower cams and a Kenne Bell 2.2L.

After all of the performance promises with the turbo setup not being achieved, I decided to follow the KB guide lines as closely as I could - and while Jim might be blunt, he can afford to be because he's right.

The day ended with 15psi, 18^ of timing, 93 octane from Mobil with the Torco additive to be at the 97 octane level if it does as advertised - the tune of 631rwhp/655rwtq. This was with a partial belt as I had shredded it partially the night before and made some changes after my pulls to hopefully resolve that issue we believe to be caused by an aftermarket part - not anything from the KB kit. And if you do the math and compare it to their test vehicle - it's DEAD ON. Gotta love companies that actually know what they're talking about and don't lie to their customers.

Once we solve that, we're going to see if we can find the other 5psi - although I'm close to max for duty cycle of the cobra pumps, BAP, modified FPDM setup (with my 1/2" SS hard line fuel system).

I cannot wait for the season....I know Jerry says it's just 0s and 1s, but I am forever grateful to have the best tune my car. My thanks to everyone who has made this possible.... Jerry, Jim and Ken @ Kenne Bell, Scotty and Jim @ VT and of course the Late Model Mustang Club of CT....

Turbos take a lot more time and money. I would go with a Novi2000. They can make PLENTY of power. And you won't need a different hood

Yea thats probably true...99% of people that get TTs are either forged or are planning to be shortly after haha. Im like the only fool who wants to stay on the stock motor for as long as possable . I think having the car down for 7 months just makes me not want to ever have to pull the car back down again

TTs and 2.6 are usually for people wanting BIG power..I totally understand what you meant now .

I guess it's personal preference. In the end, if you want 700+rwhp, both KB 2.6 and turbos can supply that. That being said, it's been proven that turbos are generally more complicated to install and tune.

Guess I could have worded my statement differently. No, I believed him, only saying that since that was the case, go turbo.
