TX plates: Did you install the front license plate?

Do you have Texas plates? Did you install the front license plate? If not, have you been stopped for it? Got a ticket? How much?

Been stopped more than once for no plate (when they have no other reason than seeing me "near" street racing) 1 ticket, a few warnings. I think the ticket was $80 in Dallas but that was about 7 years ago

Yep, need to have a front plate in texas. Needs to be infront of car. Can't put it behind windshield. Been there done that, with about 7 tickets later...

It's hurt the wallet toooo much.

Some of the comments on that online petition are too funny! How can a lawmaker take this seriously?

I got stopped but I told the cop that I didn't know that I had to have it, and he gave me a warning.

technically the only way to legally get away with no front plate is to drive a classic vehicle (25 yrs or older) and have it registered with an original dealer plate from the year of the vehicle's manufacture.....that is how I get away with it in my 57 T-Bird. I love that dealer tag.....and I have one for one of my 66 Mustang's too, but which one to use it on?

I drove around the Dallas area for nearly 6 years with no front tag. Then I moved out to wylie which is quite a bit smaller and got stopped in about a month. Told the cop that yeah i know theres no plate on the front and that i have it but didnt realize it was required. He gave me a verbal warning and let me go. I put it on then cause in such a small area my car was quite distinct and I pass the same cop about twice a week on the way home from work. And I never had it on when it was inspected and it always passed.

I sold that car yesterday and got a 01 GT, which I will put the front tag on cause the 4 friggin holes in the bumper look dumber than the plate would.

Ive been pulled over 4 times over the years....cop never noticed I didn't have a front liscense plate. 1 ticket out of the 4. Not for license plate though...

I put in for a personalized plate. If and when I get it, I'll probably go ahead and install the front one.

I bought my stang from TX and because of compications with registration I am going on 3 months driving with TX plates and I took the front one off the day I got it... no one has stopped me!!!

Same reason I've got one on the front. It is legal to have it in the front window though, as long as it's visible from in front of the vehicle it doesn't really matter where you put it.
