U/D pulleys... Cooling issues?

Im strongly considering a set of U/D pulleys for the next power mod.

Couple of reasons... Im confident in my skills that I can do the install myself (except maybe the alt. pulley swap), Ive seen dyno gains of anywhere from 8-12hp and around the same in tourqe, and they will allow the engine to rev quicker, and possibly free up some MPG.

Only concern is with the waterpump being slowed down is cooling issues.

On a hot day the temp guage is usually right in the middle, pointing straight up. Sometimes a little less, never more. Is that normal, and if so do you think it would run warm with the u/d pulley?

If anyone has any cooling issues with them please chime in. If not, I may splurge and get a set.

I've had Steeda Underdrive Pulleys on my car for over three
years and I never had one single problem.
U/D pulleys are a great mod to do that is cheap.
Get the Steedas or another that replaces the crank pulley. I had piggybacked pullies and had issues so now they are in the junk bin.

ive heard the steedas are very reliable
The Steeda Underdrive Pulleys are most reliable and reputable of
all the companys that make underdrive pulleys.Plus they are non-piggyback
pulleys and you will get better MPG as stated above. You will also
gain some power because their is less drag on your engine with them.
Go with the Steeda Underdrive pulleys no question! :nice:

You don't have to swap the alternator pulley. I would guess that the hp gain with the Steeda alt pulley would be minimal. I've had the Steeda pullies on for 3 years, using the stock alt pulley, with no problems at all.

Make sure you install the pullies properly, per the instructions. Do not cut corners here. Most pulley problems are due to improper installation.
