I am already looking at buying a FMS Aluminum Drive shaft, just want to make sure the old one is the problem. I've notice a popping/clunking noise when I accelerate in first or reverse, and now the popping is followed by a squeal that goes away around 2500rpm in first gear or by pressing the clutch pedal. Any Ideas?

Since it goes away when the clutch is depressed I would be more inclined to think that it is the throwout bearing. If it is a U-joint the FMS aluminum D/S comes with new ones.

I agree with Richard.
This sounds like a TOB issue.

I have had a U-joint rust inside the caps (this lead to squeaking). It happened at all speeds as I recall.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Yeah, that doesn't sounds like a driveshaft issue at all. I agree on the TOB.

I don't mean to hijack the thread here...

First, I agree with everyone about the TOB.

I have a squealing sound that doesn't seem to change at all when pushing the clutch. It gets faster with the RPMs, but that's about it. It started before I had my clutch and throwout bearing replaced. It's still there despite the new parts being installed. The only thing I can really say that might be different is that most of the time when I shut off the car after a drive home from work it will sound like 2 pieces of metal slowly rubbing together for about 5-10 seconds.

I know for a fact it's coming from the clutch area, any thoughts?

I just relized the squeaking is at all speed's by driving on a over pass. It's almost a grinding sound. Also I had the car on a lift and it wouldnt make the noise

I just replaced my u-joints recently and it was exactly as HISSIN50 described.I also have a squeaky throw out bearing that squeaks on the occasion, if you put slight pressure on the clutch pedal it goes away.In colder weather the sound is a bit different.

I just took out my driveshaft and found that the front u joint had a seal ripped and it took some force to move it, but when moved it made a dry bearing type of sound, so I think i found my squeal! But we'll see if it truly was the cause of the squeal when I get a fms unit
