Quick question peeps....any of you installed "only" the upper and lower aftermarket control arms and noticed any substantial results off the line?
Just curious..

No real gain at the dragstrip for me. BUT, the side to side movement is gone. I had planned on a pan hard bar but not now with the new control arms. Also, the rear just feels more solid not as spongy as the stock setup.

Thanks Joe. just looking into it to see if it is a worthwhile mod for me......My 60's are pretty decent with street tires so I may just go drag radials when tires are needed.....

Grady's right. I installed uppers and lowers at the same time, and I went with the spherical bushings. Talk about NOISY SONS OF GUNS! I thought my wheels were about to fall off. I've gotten used to it now.

As for the performance, the straight line traction isn't that much better, but the tail end "wiggle" is gone and it feels a lot more solid in the curves.

I added some D&D lowers to mine...I picked up on the "H" instantly its nothing to crazy as suspension mods freak the ride quality anyway...You play you pay...

I have SSM lowers and stock uppers. After 1 day the stock uppers bushings at the chassis were toast. I could feel them getting worse. I am either going to get some thane' upper bushings or buy some with them since they are kinda hard to find without getting the whole 200-300$ "kit" on there own. I have a TON of wiggle from the crappy uppers.

You should get really good results with the
Steeda upper and lower control arms.
That's what I am considering.

I have Steeda uppers now, trashed the stock ones first time I went to the track. Car has been mothballed for two years now though so I will most likely replace those with newer better ones when I do the lowers. Plan on ditching the little quad shocks altogether after that.

I'm looking to add the MM uppers and lowers in a couple months. Didn't realize that they may be noisy. MM has a special bushings in the lower arms, so maybe NVH is reduced a little.

Just how bad is the overall NVH with aftermarket uppers and lowers? Are we talking rattles/noises all the time when the car is in motion OR only when driving aggressively?

My overall ride right now is much stiffer than stock, but not harsh unless the road is really really bad. I'm also sure my stock bushings on uppers/lowers must be way beyond shot.

Hey, :OT: ......did you guys do away with using radar detectors.....I saw a thread stating that but years ago I got hit with a couple in PA.......I can't see you "not" using them....

Only State Police use them, us local yokels are restricted to VASCAR, Accutrack and the like.

MM recommends only doing the lowers and keeping the stock uppers, due to binding and poor suspension geometry. Call them for more details.

Right. I see that now on their site. They also state that NVH is significantly reduced due to the 3-piece bushings in their Heavy Duty LCAs. Nice write-up they have on the subject.
