Unbelievable Instagram Find

No, we aren't, not in the Northeast anyway. That's describes my car exactly, and I got it for 3 this past winter. I've seen a few more for sale in between 3 and 4 now that it's warmer out.

Then there is a huge gap between the northeast and the south. I had to pay almost 6k for mine five years ago, albeit it was a 79k mile car, and when I bought it, it was absolutely immaculate. Seriously, if you fellas are finding immaculate cars for 3 grand up there, there is a lot of money to be made. I'm thinking the words "clean" and "immaculate" may be relative here...

Definitely relative. I would not say my car is immaculate. The pictures do the paint justice, and it needed some immediate attention when I got it. But 3-4k for a running 100-130,000 mile, decently "clean" fox is about right. Notches go for a touch more, of course. I'm sure we have more rust up here though, a lot of the one's that were DD's back in the day have strut tower issues.

The terms 70k-100k mile fox on craigslist is grossly undefined by people who look at what it reads and not what it is also.....that grinds my gears worse than CAI = full bolt on drag car or 25k invested with stock suspension and heads...wth

I had a guy try last month sell a clean 5.0L coupe with ONLY 55,000 miles, upon inspection 7.5 rear-end, cut corners on fuel line clips, brakes, very unless first gear, etc but had a shiny paint job. Asked to see the title 4 cylindered salvage title, mileage didn't match. Told him to get lost.

Saw it posted with the NADA value 9K per his description and got it from someone smh:fuss: (sorry for the rant)

Clean cars in eastern nc go from 6k to 12k. That's is good paint, interior, and either completely stock or modded

Take a stroll over to Corral.net and browse the 87-93 for sale section.

Lots of $10-15K foxes for sale over there.

Some of those cars are damn clean though. Not knocking them, but I don't see the asking price as justified

Hell, I never said they were justified, but the market is what the market is.

I drove a 70 fastback in highschool and always wanted to get another, but the market on them is NUTS! Worth that much? Hell no! Bring that much money? Allllll day long. I'm telling y'all. It's coming with foxes too. Hide and watch, it matters not if justified it is, you think.

They're smoking crack over there. With the exception of a few, those cars never seem to sell or they do for far less.
Something I saw on another brand forum was a "recently sold/bought" list where guys would post what they sold their car or bought their new car for. Some guys are too worried or private for that but it helped out the marketplace a lot

So for curiosity purposes, what does a clean set up roller cost up your way?:stick:

Not roller, but in my neck of the woods, after browsing CL and completed ebay auctions in the area, it seems $4-6K will get you a driver type car.

For instance, if I were looking for a Fox, I'd prob scoop this LX up for $4500. Paint job is a bit funky, but it looks clean.

This one needs a little work, but for 27K original miles, I think it's worth $5.5K

Not sure I'd pay $8K for this though. It's clean, but the wrong colors

Honestly, the reason I've been checking out cars for sale is to maybe pick up a cheap $1K fox to beat on. That's just it...there aren't any. This is the cheapest Fox 5.0 on my local CL right now. $2900 for a dirty, 5.0 swapped car

You know I use to not like sand, brown, or other odd colors on these cars; but I would take it any day as long as its clean.

Now that convertible is questionable on 27K for me

I had an 85 ranger in 1989 or 90 that was the exact color combo as the brown 86 gt. If the price were more reasonable and I was in the market I'd buy it. How rare is that car in that color? I don't remember ever seeing one.

That last one says it needs a freeze plug. Wow.

Yeah, tell me about it. Years ago, that would be a $1500 car or so. It's dirty, needs body work, and potential engine issue.

I'd scoop it up, flog the crap out of it (leaving my '88 safe in the garage) and then ditch it come winter time.

But for $3k....no way.

I am starting to see that not only the value is going up, but the availability is very low...at least where I live. Used to have 4 or 5 foxes on cl a month. I have not seen a coupe on cl in over a year. There was one, a 4 cyl. roller, but that's it. Everyone I know with a coupe is holding onto it like gold.
