Not coming on, regardless of which door is open.

I am pretty much a novice, guys.

New bulbs (BP 67, though when I pulled them - two different bulbs were in place, "67" and "97" - no owners manual). Gotta think wiring/fuse. I'm a product of more modern cars (first and oldest I owned was a 76 Mustang II), so I'm a little out of sorts.

Here's the problem.

I don't know much about the electrical system. Actually, that's being boastful. I know almost nothing regarding wiring.

Buddy told me it might be a matter of the wire not being grounded.

Anyone want to walk the dummy through this?

Those underdash lights have to have a very good ground to work...there is a screw that holds the metal light housing to the underside of the dash. I'd unscrew that so the housing comes free and scuff up the area of the dash that contacts the housing when its installed with some sandpaper.

Also check that all the fuses are good (not sure which one it is on a 65/66). The only other thing I could thnk of that would be an easy fix would be the door plunger has gone bad.

Good luck!

Loose fuse holder

is what I found on my '66. Over the years I guess they just kind of got loose. Cleaned up the fuse and spring clips that hold the fuse then squeezed them so the fuse would be a tight fit and everything worked well.

Good luck,

Scott

Ok, silly question, have you checked the connectors under the dash? With time and moisture it's possible that they may have gunk built up in there not allowing for a good connection.

Well, I haven't been able to get serious time under the dash. Flippin hot in PA. I'm thinking it might have more to do with the light housing. Would use the test light...if I can find one. Should be able to, though.

The springs work with the door buttons, for what it's worth.
