I'm planning on adding a performance underdrive pully to my '06 GT and it seems the most common brands are either Roush or Steeda. What kind of experiences have you guys had with either? Do you know if one is clearly better than the other? Thanks..

There are a lot of people here who have them. Yes they free up some power, but before getting pullied. Have you considered other mods?

the Roush are great, easy install, and look beter as well. they even have the timing marks that ford forgot about on the balancer.

my U/D pillies gave a getter SOTP feel than my O/R H pipe, even though they are advertised at about the same gain.

Steeda gives you a new bolt to replace a stud, but Roush tells you to trim the stud. after careful consideration, i chose to trim the stud. it will make it a little better down the line when you need to do maintenence, like replace the alternator.

i will be finishing up my write up on the pullies soon. i will post a link when finished. the Roush instructions are very easy to follow, and give color pictures as well.

I am sure that Steeda is good, but Roush has a history with Ford also!

Pulleys

I have installed two sets of Steeda Pulleys ('97 GT & '00 GT) with zero problems. When I put them on my '06, they will be Steeda.

Although Roush and Saleen work with Ford and have a history ?? Steeda is the only aftermarket company who shares an official partnership in Ford's Transfer Technology Program as an aftermarket parts maker...

Roush kinda builds Mustangs and their motors. I'm sure they have just as much, if not more knowledge on the Mustang than Steeda does.

That may very well be true, with the exception of having more knowledge on the Mustang than Steeda ? who BTW is also a Mustang Dealer and builds their own Stangs as well.. However when it comes down to aftermarket parts ?? Steeda is required by Ford to design their parts according to Ford engineering specifications in order to participate in Ford's Transfer Technology Partnership Program..

Here is some Info from Steeda's site...

http://www.steeda.com/products/s197_underdrive_pulley.php

The Steeda pulley is made in the U.S.A.

The Roush pulley is made by Power bond from Australia.

I've had the Steeda UDPs on my car for over 4 years and although I haven't had a mechanical problem with them, they look completely trashed now. Actually, I had a ton of chips on the crank pulley after only 6 monthws (where the powder coating wore off.) Stock crank pulley on my car was perfectly fine after a little more than a year of driving with it when the car was new. Personally, I'd never buy Steeda UDPs again. Actually, come to think of it, I'd never buy ANY UDPs again unless I was completely tapped out of modifications. There are a ton of other things I'd do before any set of UDPs. If you are looking for good ETs, get some MTs or at least some DRs. That will probably give you the best bang for buck as far as ETs.

I've had good luck with the Steeda UD on my Buliitt, they still look new, may not pickup to much HP but it sure saves the acessories when spinning up the RPM's during track events. I will be purchasing Roush UD's for our '06 Roush in the spring.
