I bought a 1993 mustang convertible and the previous owner had a car alarm installed and frankly I don't really want it installed. It also has remote locks and trunk release which I like, but I don't want the alarm anymore. Is there anyway to disable just the alarm part? It's annoying that when I disconnect the battery and hook it back up it goes off and I have to press the disarm button everytime I want to start it.

I just bought my 92 GT and was happy it came with the original set of keys you know the large Ford Oval one. Well anyway since I don't drive the car daily, I had been disconnecting the battery whenever I parked it in the garage. Out of no where the alarm was suddenly arming and I hadn't gotten any key pad from the previous owner. Nothing would disarm this alarm, not key cycles, not dis-connecting the battery etc. So after just finishing replacement of the heater core again I was under the dash. Under the driver side was a mess or wires that you could tell was not the same as the original ford wiring. I found the button that was supposed to shut the system down which it didn't and the light that blinks. Quite simply I spend the next 2 hours carefully untaping, disconnecting, and rewrapping wires. It was way more than I expected and think the car had a remote start too. Other than being tedious it was quite easy and all I took apart was the steering column shields, the knee bolster, and the 2 screws holding the fuse box. Be sure to disconnect the battery and take your time.

Find the directions like madspeed said.
You can probably disable the alarm and keep the keyless entry.
I've done it multiple times by accident on my explorer, each time i had to find the book and figure out how to turn it back on.
It actually required certain keypad presses with the door open.
