So I took my passenger side head off today... my head gasket (car only ran for 30 mins with it on) looks like friggin swiss cheese. I HATE THE SWISS! so im gonna change out both head gaskets now, Agian. The reason my compression test was fine is that the cylinder rings were intact, but the water ports all blew in the gasket. WIsh me luck, maybe this will be the last time i rip my block apart.

Also an update on the rounded off ARP Head bolt.... My friend did the same thing I did and had a whole extra set - one bolt, so i got a freebe, I also used craftsman rounded off bolt puller socket thing to pull it out, worked like a charm.

BACK TO THE GARAGE!

What did the gasket fail so quickly? Did you clean the block really well the first time?

That is hilarious. We had that same thing almost happen to a friend and I, b/c when we swapped intakes, we had to swap the thermostat housing, and we had to figure it out...lol.

Sorry, just brings back memories....glad you found your problem.

Eeeek. Have dad come out and help scrape off the old gasket.

dad is sleeping. He did take all the head bolts except the one he rounded off. And he took the head off too... he gets to do it all again tomarrow on the other one, plus tighten them both up!

It's great to hear you found the problem. Now at least make your dad pay for the head gaskets! lol
