My car is running really strong, the problem is still present however, and it is the car cutting out when i try to race it, (not really race, but just gun it) - so i bought a 190lph fuel pump, and i will be putting that in to match my combo w/ the 24#ers - i wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't do anything - i have the tps voltage set at .986V, the timing at 14*, the FP set at around 39psi -

1) When i install the fuel pump, will i need to readjust the fuel pressure...?????

2) When the fuel pump makes no difference, i still have the stock distributor, would installing an MSG distributor fix my problem? My dad seems to think the stock distributor is my problem -??????????

After the fuel pump doesn't help, i'll pull the codes n see what else needs to be done, than i'll maybe do a distributor...

THANKS

And BTW, i came up w/ the money for a dyno tune, so as soon as I locate and resolve my problem, i will be having the car professionally tuned and a chip burnt for my computer!!

Hey Paul...

1) No - the pump will just supply additional fuel to the lines. Any access will thus be sent through the return line. However, a Fuel pressure gauge might be a nice addition (if you don't have one already) to see what happens to your pressure when you rev the engine. I have heard that on stock pumps, the pressue drops when you rev the motor. Where as with a larger volume pump the pressure stays constant.

2) Stock distributor is perfectly fine. If anything the TFI module can be replaced for a new-OEM piece to eliminate the possibility of the TFI module being faulty. IMO aftermarket distributors are bling only.... Maybe your engine bay would like that though...?

Heya Paul,

The 190L will be fine and you're right... there is a chance that you're not getting enough fuel volume from the stock piece. I agree that your dizzy should be fine but your spark energy may not be what it once was. As opposed to blindly swapping parts in an effort to find the problem, I'd suggest closing up your spark plug gap a little and see if your problem changes, inproves, or get's worse. If it improves then the addition of a hotter coil or ignition should help you out. A TFI with a bit more dwell couldn't hurt either. Close em all up to .035 and see how it acts.

the tfi module was replaced when the engine swap was done, the original got broken comin out i think, so i got a new one - it can't be that !! DAMN IT lol On monday, i'm dropping it off with a specialist w/ a good reputation, i'll see what he comes up with - i'm sure he'll pull the codes, n start from there, but he's a friend of my dads friend, so I'll just trust him lol - i don't have time to fumble with it right now w/ school n women n work n work - you know wat i mean...
