Today I got to do a full test. The roads dried out, and I made highway and city runs, and also a wot shift from 1st in the city.
Let me first just say....WOW.
Do these gears have a "break in" period? 4th gear on the highway spinning at 3800rpm pulls like a DEMON. I mean hard. 5th gear is around 2600rpm at 70mph, and it pulls a lot harder, pulls like 4th did. No need for downshifting.
As I was in first gear in the town, I let off the gas a little and then punched it again, and broke the tires loose. This put a smile on my face. Finally, the power is showing! Just to make sure this wasnt a fluke, I made sure to get on a very dry road going 100% straight. I floored the car from about 2700rpm in first gear, and OMG! It took off like a ROCKET. I shifted at redline into second, barked the tires, and second pulled as hard as first gear did before. Put a HUGE smile on my face, and TOTALLY took me off gaurd. It pulled soo hard, finally feels like a muscle car. It finally feels faster then my old supercharged Maxima, which makes me very happy. It feels like i've added 50hp and more importantly 50tq to first and second. The pull is incredible, like the hulk rollercoaster at Universal Studios. And yet, first gear is still very useable. The newfound pull put a HUGE smile on my face. Put my car with 3.27's against my car with 4.10's now in this instance, and my car now would pull ahead swiftly and with ease. It feels incredible.
On the highway, I attempted to downshift into 3rd. Not pretty. At 70~ish mph, as I downshifted, the clutch slipped a little, couldnt handle the power. I know on occasion my clutch will slip, but today for the most part it caught. I retract my previous statement about these gears. Sometimes when you mash the gas while in gear, it blunts the feel and some of the performance. Mix that with a clutch that likes to act up from time to time, and it makes for a smooshy, unexciting ride. But today, I got to do some real tests, and it put a huge smile on my face. Definately feels much better than before. Gas mileage hasnt decreased, I am happy with that.
It took some time, and more in depth testing, but I finally got to stretch the legs of my car with the 4.10s. I must say that I am MUCH happier then yesterday, and know that around town my car will pull much harder, and smoke cars that would beat me before.
God bless gears. Ford is retarded for putting the pathetic 3.27's with this jewel of a motor.

!!!
The last time I shifted from 1st to 2nd like that on the street I lit up the tires so bad that I hit the rev limiter and almost went into oncoming traffic! and I have stock gears, wow I can't wait till I get my 3.73's
