Hello all, I'm a brand new member. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to upgrade from a stock 2002 Mustang GT 4.6L 2V to a new "2000 Mustang Cobra Engine Assembly" Crate Motor from Ford Racing Parts?

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=6688

I was wondering if this is possible? My 2002 GT is a daily driver and the mileage is starting to add up! I've looked into getting a supercharger, but the total price including installation and tuning is right around the same price as buying a whole new Crate motor from Ford.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

If I'm thinking correctly, that is probably the the 99/01 Cobra (or 03/04 Mach1) engine. I dont' see why it wouldn't be easily compatable with a 99+ bodystyle but I don't really know how the ecu stuff would work out...

Use the $6000 the engine would cost plus the $2000 it would cost to get it installed plus the $4800 for a Kene Bell plus the equity in your GT to get an actual 03/04 Cobra...

I think youd be better off looking for a used engine such as a Mach1/Maruarder/Aviator 4.6, they are all the same except for the intake. Check out http://car-part.com/ I have seen them on there for as little as $1500. Your stock computer and wiring can work, you will just need to lengthen the wires to the coil packs and have a chip burned for the new motor.
