Upper Control Arm problems

I was replacing the housing bushings on the rearend tonight and pulled the upper control arm off and noticed the end that slips up into the torque box is now egg shaped. What on earth would cause this in less than a year.

Traction will stress and therefore elongate these openings. But I would also asume the bolts were not tight enough...
