Upper Untake Holes On Underside

on the underside of my stock intake there are 2 ports that were just capped off. the new intake i have has the same 2 holes i was just wondering what their purpose was. should i keep them blocked off? it looks like the new intake came with plugs for the holes. nitrous application would be my best guess?

The one on the back of the intake is where the MAP sensor connects to on a speed density car and the one on the front is for the evaporative emissions canister (charcoal). If your car is mass air the rear should be capped off and I'm guessing your evap system has been deleted and that's why the front is capped off. I would really consider fixing the evap system as it costs no HP and keeps your car from smelling like gas.

Sounds like ima just cap them both. Charcoal was removed very shotty by the previous owner to clean up the bay I guess. I don't wanna spend the money to put it back in if it's just to prevent smell. Plus I kinda like that old car gas smell.

It's purpose is to prevent uncontrolled hydrocarbon release into the atmosphere by burning it through the engine. Some may not care about this at all, in which case Install a vented gas cap, then cap the line back by the gas tank. Be carefull when opening the door as there may be gas fumes present.

Depending on where the original owner routed the line to vent, it could be a hazard since gasoline vapors are explosive. I'd definitely make sure the original owner didn't remove it and leave the vapor line just hanging loose somewhere in the engine bay venting.

Where would/should the vapor line be? My family has had this car since 2001 and I haven't blown up yet but I would like to make sure it's right.

Exits the pass side of the gas tank as a rubber hose that connects to a hard metal line right by the pass tailpipe look and travels up the passenger side of the car into the front inner fender area. It changes to a hard plastic line around where the pass strut tower is.

If you find the line in the engine bay somewhere, just make sure you vent it somewhere where it's constantly getting flushed with fresh air and vapors can't accumulate.

The tip would be to put the charcoal canister back, it's designed to properly vent gas fumes and is not that expensive fix, I think it would be safer too.
