so i got my UPR o/r X installed on Friday (two days ago) and it is AWESOME!! the sound is incredible, even with the stock mufflers. it sounds the best when im in a low gear and go about half throttle. that deep rumbly sound is very present. its not as loud as i had hoped, of course it is louder than stock tho. my butt-o-meter gives it ~8 rwhp. theres one spot i can really test my car out. its a small stretch of road slightly less than 1/4 mile. before the pipe, i could get up to 90-91 mph before i had to brake. now i can hit 95 mph when im braking at the same spot. i know this test is rather primitive, but its all i have to go off of. also, i love how my gears make the car rev up so quickly, it really furthers the experience of the pipe. this pipe is great, and for $209.95 including the MILs from Cool Blue Performance, you cant beat it!!

ok, so here's the race story. i met up with some guys from a local stang club here in austin at a car show and we went to run. one guy has a 98 vert, but with an 02 engine in it. his mods are:3.73s, BBK X, Flowmaster AT Catback, MSD ignition, 24# injectors, plugs, and a lot of other little things. he went to the track and ran a 13.9 before the gears, so now he can probably run 13.6-13.8. anyway, we go run and im surprised i can keep up with him. he got the launch on me a bunch of times in the beggining b/c i didnt (and still dont) know how to properly launch, but after about 10 runs, i was keeping up with him in the launches. however, when we hit 3rd, i started to pull slightly, and 4th was even harder. by the time i shifted into 5th, i was about a car lenth ahead. so im really surprised my car could keep up and pull on him. we are going to the track on fri. and hopefully these plans dont fall through.

btw, can anyone give me some good launching techniques?? i used to try to not spin my tires at all when i launched, but i realized that i was just bogging. i found that if i peel out a little through 1st, and chirp 2nd, i could get faster.

upr pipe....

i have the ford motorsport shorty headers, and the upr x-pipe, along with the SLP cat back, and my god almighty, it's one of the loudest cars i've heard ever... i mean it's awsome, sounds like a nascar, and with the install of the blower in 4 days, it should really sound mean as all hell breaking loose!!!!!
