Newbie question here. Is there really a big defrence between the fibergalss and urethane? Because the kit I want (Stalker2000 s-conversion - 94-94) dosn't come in urethane, atleast not at the site i'm at.

So if I get the fiberglass kit is that going to be pure crap? Should I just get a different body kit in urethane?

Thanks

fiberglass looks really nice especially if you go through cervini's. However I would never buy a fiberglass body kit because one little tap on the bumper and it will shatter like my dreams of hooking up with Carmen Electra. unless you drive on perfectly paved flat roads GO WITH URETHANE!

Thanks for all your help!

I concur with stang976. Urethane is more forgiving than fiberglass. I have “tapped” the front fascia a couple times without doing any damage whatsoever.

The only down side I can think of is in regards to painting. I don’t know if this is the case with all manufacturers but Saleen urethane parts are notorious for needing a lot of prep work before painting. Also, the painter should have good experience applying paint to urethane, as it requires flex additive to aid adhesion.

I have the fiberglass kit, works great. I actually like fiberglass better because its really easy to fix, it doesn't shatter that easily, it just cracks if anything. Also its much cheaper. I've had no problems, and fiberglass is so easy to lay paint on with no worries. The only problem with Fiberglass kits I've had is that the company that molds the front end, which seems like when i called, they all have the same distributor, doesn't have a spot for the bumper brackets. I had to make my own. I used that flat iron people use to mount garage door openers to make brackets that i could mount on. Other then that, it turned out great. Not sure if urethane has the premolded spots though...? I ordered mine from autobahnmotorsports.com, where you ordering yours from???

I'm getting the Stalker2000 s-conversion - 94-98 from www.mrbodykit.com

I'm just going to go with the fiberglass kit, cause it only comes in that for one, and it paints better. I don't think i'll have any problems inless I crash, but that won't happen. And if someone crashes it's going to do something to it anyway.

Thanks for all the help!

If you go with fiberglass, it'll cost more to install due to the non-flexibility of fiberglass. Urethane is so much forgiving when installing. With fiberglass, they may have to shave off sections to get it to fit right. If your car is lowered, forget about fiberglass. But once it's all said and done, you can't really tell the difference look wise.
