used cai and tuner?????

CAI - Yes Tuner - No

From what I understand, the cold air intake would not be a problem but the tuner probably would be a problem.

When I purchased a tuner from Brenspeed for my 06 GT, I asked if it could also be used for my girlfriend's 05 Roush. The answer is NO.

Our cars come with different factory settings (codes can be found under the hood), that you have to give to the tuning company so that they can optimize the tune for your particular code set up. The tuner automatically downloads the factory tune when you upload a new tune to your car. If you use a "used" one, then you may subject your car to a different tune setting that was designed for a completely different set up, and could cause major problems with your car. If your factory setting gets lost in the process, then you may have major problems.

I bow to poopdawg's experience.

If you can completely erase the tunes that are in the used tuner, then I suppose it could be done. (Don't know enough about the ability to erase data from the tuners)

False... if it's correct for your year/computer, it will work. The tuners have pre installed tunes for the popular intake combos, and even for the stock air box. Just make sure the tuner is correct for your year/computer code. Example... the 07 tuners are different from the 05-06s.

ok check it out...

with the Predator you CAN buy a used model however you need to make sure of the following:

1. It's model # matches your make and model.

2. The ORIGINAL BACKUP tune was installed back onto the previous owners vehicle. This will reset the Predator.

With the used CAI, that has no bearing on the tune or not. Just make sure that if you're buying the used kit that the parts are all in good condition, filter & MAF housing are clean etc., That's a no-brainer

Lemme know whatcha end up doing. The Predator pwns, not just saying that as an ex-Diablo Employee I just have it installed on my car and it made a nice difference in "drivability"

i got a used XCAL2. all you need to do is be sure that the car was returned to stock before they decided to sell the tuner. make sure that the tuner is unlocked, throw away the tunes on it unless they match your car exactly, contact a new tuner like brent or doug, and then load your new tunes to the car.

you cant use it on more than one car at a time, and thats why you need to be sure that the original car was returned to stock and the tuner is unlocked. if its locked, you will have to ship it back to SCT and pay something like $150 for them to unlock it. they will explain why they charge you if you need to contact them.

That's to bad, I know someone with an SCT 2 tuner and he returned the car and didn't realize he needed to return it to stock to allow the tuner to be used, (trade in to dealership).

He's contacting SCT to see about having it reset, and charging him 150 certainly is a bit steep.

I have to buy a new tune, add 150 add money for him, its seems close to not being worth it, or am i missing something.
