I'm looking at a bryant 3.250" crank right now wondering if it'll support my goals (700 rwhp on pump gas, and well over 1000 on race gas on a turbo 331).

I've seen the opinions regarding what they should or shouldn't do. Now, I want experiences actually using them.

Thanks,

Chris

I've heard the nascar stuff is used and abused, especially if it was used in qualifying.
Remember their stuff only has to last 500 miles.

Chris, what did Bryant tell you?

You may want to try www.hardcore50.com and www.nmraracing.com more users of that stuff over there.

Sorry I didn't get back to you about that, Rick. They didn't give me much. They seemed to think that the crank was a Chevy crank, not a ford crank, based on the serial number. So, Mike (my builder - Dayton Performance) is going to check it out. Sonny Bryant is stamped in the #1 counterweight where it is supposed to be, and it looks the part as well. So, if Bryant Racing is right, this crank is a non issue. I'm still likely to go with another nascar crank if they'll work, though.

I'm looking for people with experience. I've know the theories and the popular opinion that most people don't like the idea of a used crank (even if it has been maged, and is still to spec).

The guys that have them and have spoken to me about them include one who runs them in a renegade motor with no problems, a guy who ran them at over 800 hp in their nextel cup cars and never had a problem. All of the people who have experience with them seem to think that my application will work fine. I'm looking for someone especially who's broken one and how.

Please limit responses about these cranks to actual experiences with them.

Thank you,

Chris

No problem Chris....yeah I know of some racers that run them, largets issue I have is if you break them or it has a funky stroke you run into custom width rods, custom pistons etc... Yours sounds odd with a 3.25" stroke for cup stuff that I have heard off but if Bryant or your builder says it is good then go with them. Let me know what you hear in the end...

I had a Bryant Racing crank, but sold it because it had a funny main bearing size. Truth be told, it was an absolutely gorgeous piece..truly a work of art. They withstand 10000 RPM with 600 N/A HP. If it can survive that torture test for several hours, taking it to the street is a cake walk. I'm going with a Bryant crank in my next engine.
