Hey all, well i have been saving for a S-Trim for awhile now and am almost there for a new kit. However i found a used S-Trim for sale on ebay and may be able to pick it up for around 1K!!!! It is a complete kit with the only things missing is the timing box and the FMU, it says only 3k miles on it and has no leaks or turbine play at all. Do you think this would be a safe kit to buy??? Also what else should i look out for?
Finally with the only mods in my sig i have been told by my friends dad who has a 89lx with a blown 418 that 24lb injectors with an FMU would be plenty for me, however i was planing on just doing 42lb injectors with a matching mass air and a dyno tune but he said i will have horrible driveablity issues with that. What is your advise on this as well? Please help i would love to get blown here as soon as possible Thanx for your help, always appreciated

I would get the number off of it and run it through vortech and get the history....might as well.

As to the driveability problem....IT IS ALL IN THE TUNE!!!! You could either tune it yourself (steeeeep learning curve) or you could have a shop do a dyno tune for you (HIGHLY recommended vs. doing it urself on a blown combo). If the shop is a good shop you shouldn't have a driveability problem at all. If I could get a good portion of mine worked out with a tweecer I'm sure a pro could prolly completely eliminate it.

That sounds like a really good price. If at all possible I'd drive by there and check it out to make sure he's not "exaggerating" its condition. If not its kinds of a gamble.

The only thing I could tell you is to check with vortech about the serial #.

Maybe someone else will have better info

personally, i wouldn't buy a used kit off ebay. i would feel more comfortable about buying it from someone on the corral or other similar classified site. I buy stuff on ebay all the time, but something like that for only a grand makes me worried. why is it so cheap?

as far as your injector quesions, 42s are too big. your still running the stock heads. if you do get that kit, do yourself a favor and get 24#s with an FMU. if you really want to get a bigger injector step up to a 30 and FMU. With the mods you have now, it doesn't warrant that big of an injector.

FYI, if you do get that kit and it's missing an FMU, i have one from my old setup with a 24# disc in it that i have no need for anymore.

ya thanks for the info guys, i checked the account again after school and the highest bid is still only at $510.00 after 3 days so if 1k makes you guys feel alittle nervous about it im really nervous that it hasnt climed past 500 in the past 3 days. Bummer he sent me a message saying that he is selling it for his friend how just bought a 03 cobra and is now parting out his old 95 and that it is in perfect shape almost new, i wish it wasnt so dang far away or i'd go look at it. Ya just hate the idea of buying something that you dont know exactly what your getting

i thought I was going to get a vortech that cheap last week, same exact situation. Well lets just say that my max bid of 1k was way off from where it sold, it went for over 1500 when all was said and done...

That's how to play the Ebay game.........it could have 20 watchers that will all bid in the last minutes to try and keep the price low.......................

ya true my dad mentioned that i guess i just didnt think about it, maybe i will just wait a month or two more and just buy a new one with the warranty and everything, probably a safer bet.

I got my kit for $1785 shipped which was a killer deal - very low miles, very reputable guy. Even sent extra, modified stock parts you have to modify to put the kit on the car, the punches and tap you have to get.

I bought a Lightning MAF and 42lb injectors to support it.

Good luck,
Wes
