Lately my car has been acting somewhat erractic when at a stop, and someone suggested using some STP fuel injector cleaner, so I picked up a bottle of it at the store the other nite. My car has just over a 1/4 of tank of gas in it now. The STP cleaner says to use with a full tank of gas.
I was just wondering if it mattered whether or not I used this with a full tank or not, I figured it might be more effective with less gas, but I'm not sure.
Just figured I'd ask to be safe.

i never hold my breath with that stuff, but when i do run it, i dump it in with little gas in the tank. if i do it on a full tank, i dump a couple bottles in. ive read everything from it does not do anything, to it killing rubber in the pump. i assume the former.
stuff these days is moron-proof (no offense; just my line of thinking). if it could hurt the car somehow, it would not be sold.
i might add that some have had good luck with the fuel system cleaners that hook up to the schrader valve.
good luck.

I agree ... I use that stuff at no more than half a tank. The more concentrated it is, the better in my opinion. I use the Lucas treatments, both in the fuel every 5-10 tanks or so and the oil stabilizer every second oil change. They make good stuff!!

The way I figure it, the guys at STP know a lot more about fuel injector cleaning then I ever will. I put a bottle in every 2 months or so on a full tank. Usually when I fill the tank and it comes out to around 17 bones so that plus the cleaner evens it to 20...

I think the reason they say to put it in a full tank is so it runs through the engine for a longer amount of time. I have been using that stuff (fuel injection cleaner) forever and it does work to a point. Don't expect miracles but it does work.
I once had a carb on a motorcycle (my cbr 600) that would flood the cylinders with fuel when it sat for a week or longer. I ran a half bottle through it with very little gas in it and the problem went away so obviously the cleaner cleaned whatever crud was on the needle in the carb off. It does work.

Well the only problem I've had is the car will die once in awhile when your like at a stoplight or in the drive thru. Not very often though and not a huge problem. I figure the cleaner will help maybe and even if that's not the problem, it can't hurt anything.
