Hey I just bolted in a tranny out of a 94-95 stang and everything worked fine except I cant get the starter to fit in right. All I ever heard was just to make sure I use the bellhousing that comes with the newer tranny. Do I need a different starter or is it just me not doing something right?

yeah u need the newer starter it runs about 90 at a part store uv also got to wire the car up for the solenoid on the starter its pretty easy u just put the starter cable on the batteryside of the solonoind and where the starter wire used to be runa wire to the solenoind on the starter it works great for me

It should be a direct swap, with no starter change required. The difference between the two is the 94-95 has the solenoid on the starter itself and it's a bit smaller. It's a fairly common swap, since it's a higher torque unit than the Fox starter. What doesn't fit right about the old starter?
